A hotel of comfort and luxury
Even though we love to travel, we are absolutely homebodies. That means that our hotels and accommodations at each destination are extremely important to us.
Throughout all of our travels, there has been a standout favorite by far: Ping Nakara in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Ping Nakara is a lovely Victorian colonial boutique hotel located just outside the old walled city of Chiang Mai.
While expensive for Thailand, and Chiang Mai especially, Ping Nakara offers a level of luxury and attention to detail that would normally be unaffordable to all but the very wealthy. Far outside of the backpacker’s budget, it was nevertheless a really enjoyable stay, and we would recommend it to anyone who wants to have their cake and eat it, too.
The rooms at Ping Nakara were spacious and cozy, like actual bedrooms.
The building itself is historic, from the days of teak logging in Thailand, and so it lacks the usual modern afflictions of decor and design that plague every hotel and hostel.
They also have a shared library fully stocked with great reads, as well as a pool and lounging area.
The service was phenomenal. There was even a pillow menu!! You can choose from Lavender, Orthopedic, and several other pillow options for free.
A delicious breakfast was included (from an a la carte real menu and not just continental) and was always delicious. Our hosts always took care to remember our preferences. The service and hospitality was excellent.
We also took advantage of their very affordable laundry service and were so pleasantly surprised when our garments came back smelling oh so perfectly and neatly folded. Marie Kondo vibes, anyone?
Ping Nakara also boasts of providing Ayurvedic spa treatments for holistic health and relaxation.
Ayurveda is a holistic system of healing that was developed in ancient India thousands of years ago. We didn’t get a chance to try their spa, but it’s definitely on our list when we return!
Hotels and accommodations are always such a personal decision. We truly hope that if you choose Ping Nakara, you’ll be just as impressed as we were!
